Passport Issuance Process

After Confirmation of Citizenship

The Step-by-Step Guide to Obtaining a Polish Passport After Your Citizenship Has Been Confirmed.

STEP 1

Receive the final decision confirming citizenship from the voivode.

You will receive the official decision confirming your Polish citizenship by mail.

STEP 2

Register the foreign birth certificate (and marriage certificate, if applicable) in the Polish civil registry.

Your civil-status records must be registered (transcription) in Poland before applying for a passport.

STEP 3

Schedule an appointment at a Polish consulate or a passport office in Poland.

Book an appointment online or by phone at the nearest location.

STEP 4

Appear in person to file the application, provide biometric data, and pay the consular fee.

You must appear in person for fingerprint collection and to submit all required documents.

STEP 5

Receive the passport — issuance time is typically a few weeks from the date the application is filed.

You will be notified when your passport is ready for pickup or will be mailed to you.
